Glider formed in 2003 with core members Rory Carruthers and Brian Evans. The duo worked on demos with various drummers until the release of their debut full length album One Day at a Time in 2006 with drummer David Tunnel. David left the group shortly after, leading the duo to record more songs and demos that were eventually collected on the album Breathe the Heartbeat in the fall of 2008. Christopher bright and Nate Wehe joined the fold in 2006 on drums and additional guitars respectively. With the lineup complete the songwriting and recording began for the forthcoming second full length Asleep In the Arms of the Sea.

"What's especially nice about Glider is that, in a world of post-Mogwai/Godspeed/Sigur Rós 'widescreen' rock, they reach back to older roots while still having an energy and power that suits the present."
- Ned Raggett, All Music Guide

"This beautifully orchestrated, melancholy indie music gets inside my head, takes over my mood, and refuses to let go."
- Stephen Carradini, Delusions of Adequacy Webzine

"Beautiful, lush, and full, this disc is a gorgeous piece of work that all should have on their shelves. More than just a copy of all shoegaze and space rock bands, Glider has crafted their own niche in the new-gaze era."
- Jason Lamoreaux, Somewhere Cold
